MINU BALKANSKI FOUNDATION
Prof. Minko Balkanski founds Minu Balkanski foundation in memory of his father Minu Balkanski. The Foundation is situated in Oriahovitza village, near Stara Zagora. Its activities aim at raising the level of teaching computer science in Bulgarian schools, and also at increasing the use of information and communication technologies in the process of teaching. Another activity in which the Foundation is strongly engaged is to initiate a national debate and bring Moral, Ethics and Civic Education as a regular object of study in Bulgarian schools.
NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF EDUCATION
The National Institute of Education (NIO) opened its doors in October 2006, in the renovated building of the former school of Oriahovitza village. NIO now includes the department for education in Informatics of the Minu Balkanski Foundation as one of its main activities and has opened a new department – Youth education - Moral, Ethics and Civic Education.
